You may have started to notice that the theme for my travels throughout Asia is often seclusion – getting as far away as possible from the rest of the world and immersing myself in the blissful serenity of nature. My idea of the perfect escape is to swim in the ocean, wander through jungles, breathe fresh air, practice yoga, read a book on the beach, eat divine foods, get an incredible massage and take luscious little afternoon naps. Just nourishing and nurturing my body, mind and spirit. The Tubkaak Boutique Resort in Krabi offered all of this and more!
Tubkaak is the name of the secret beach where the resort is situated; the word literally means 'home', and the beach is located on a hidden corner of the earth facing an archipelago of islands that rise dramatically from the calm Andaman Sea. Backed by the mighty Hang Nak mountain, the unseen stretch of gorgeous beach and lush tropical landscape has all the right ingredients for a relaxing hideaway. Tubkaak also just happens to be listed in '1000 Places to see Before you Die' – which I completely agree with, since the panorama is nothing short of breathtaking!
The villas are cosy, with a distinct Thai ambiance, and blend effortlessly into the environment. The private pool villas are both luxurious and spacious – some of the most beautiful I've had the pleasure of experiencing. If you're in the mood to venture outside your room, you can take a long tail boat to the islands, trek through the Khao Ngong Nak national park, or take a Thai cooking class! This was a highlight for us foodies! It was so fun to learn how to make authentic Thai dishes... and if you let them know in advance, it can all be made vegan! Happy days!
